OHIP or Private Insurance May Cover Your Eye Exam

We provide itemized receipts for your convenience to submit to your private insurance. If you are 19 and under or 65 years old and over, OHIP covers the cost of your annual eye exam. Also, if you have particular eye or general health conditions such as diabetes or it is requested by your family physician OHIP may also provide coverage for your eye examinations.
Recently eye care in Ontario is being threatened of being removed from OHIP.

Eye Care in Ontario has reached a breaking point.

OHIP patients will lose access to care on September 1st.

What is an OCT?

OCT is an Ocular Coherence Tomography – is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of your eye. The OCT machine captures both a fundus photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye at the same time. This allows us to instantly diagnose a number of common conditions. The scan is non-invasive, painless, simple and quick. What’s more, the software can automatically detect even the most subtle changes to the retina with every eye test you take. This gives you an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of your eyes.
